Gold Coast canal walls falling apart

A recent news report in the Gold Coast Bulletin stated that the Gold Coast had many ageing waterfront revetment walls that are close to collapse. We have more than 400k  of revetment walls which according to experts should be replaced every 30 years. Unfortunately, as the upkeep of these walls are the Land Owners responsibility, many of them are being overlooked.

Mayor Ron Clarke said; "So what we want to do is get legislation so that we can protect 90 per cent of the good owners by taking action on the 10 per cent of people that don't look after their properties."
