Gold Coast City Council confirms ownership of Revetment Walls

Gold Coast City Council recently had a report compiled to confirm the legal ownership of Revetment Walls. It was found that whilst Council was responsible for Revetment Walls that were within the boundary of a Canal, any Revetment Wall on Freehold Property adjoining a Canal or Waterway, was the responsibility of the Land Owner.

This ownership also passes on the responsibility for maintenance of the wall. This is becoming an increasing issue as some of our more than 400kms of Waterfront Revetment Walls reach the end of their useful life.
