Revetment Wall Failure

Revetment wall failure correction project

Biggerra Waters, November 2016

This canal wall has experienced major subsidence and movement. We think the stormwater outlet was the probable cause of the issue.

The pavers were removed and the area behind the revetment wall was excavated to expose the footing. The damaged section was then cut away and removed allowing the new section of canal wall to be built, attached to the footing, and secured with piers.

Weepholes were installed to allow adequate drainage to occur from behind the wall reducing the risk of movement in the future. New geofabric and gravel was instated behind the wall to assist in the adequate drainage but also to prevent material loss from behind the wall.

Marine grade sealant was installed between the two sections to stop material loss. The area was compacted and then the pavers were reinstated.

Fresh rock armouring to top the front of the wall back up to design was the final touch.
