When water gets behind a poorly supported bank, it washes away the "fines" (the small soil particles), leaving hollow pockets that eventually collapse. What is Rock Armouring & Rip Rap?

Think of rock armouring as a permanent, heavy-duty shield for your shoreline. Instead of a flat wall that tries to "fight" the water, we use rip rap, a layer of carefully selected, graded rocks, to create a porous barrier. When a wave or boat wash hits a rock wall, the energy is absorbed and broken up between the stones rather than scouring away the dirt behind them.

We know that dealing with the Gold Coast City Council or state regulations can feel like a headache, so we’ve streamlined our process to keep things simple. It starts with a site visit where we assess the slope of your bank and the current state of your bank reinforcing.

From there, we handle the logistics. Whether it’s a new install or a rock top-up, we source the right quarry stone and coordinate the barge transport. Our team places the rock against your wall using a Bobcat or excavator, then pack it tightly and neatly with a special excavator bucket. Because the machines stay on the barge, we can get that rock exactly where it needs to go without ever touching your grass or tiles.

Finally, we finish the top edge by hand, giving you the neatest possible finish. We carry the largest load on the coast, which means we offer by far the best price per tonne!

Most water frontages require 25-50 tonnes to top up their rock. Several sizes of rock are available, and we can provide a structural engineer if you require specific repair or preventative solutions.
