Bribie Gardens Rock Armouring

Gold Coast Barges won the tender to top up the rock levels in the Bribie Gardens canal system on Bribie Island, north of Brisbane. Bringing the rock back to design level was the Council’s mandate.

In this system, where pontoons and obstacles are plentiful, we used Dumbo, our spudded Dumb barge, with a push punt which allowed us access through the lock to carry out the rock armouring project. Dumbo’s spuds make her highly maneuverable and allows us a steady position while installing the rock to avoid any property damage that an unspudded barge may present.
